Description
The Swift built-in next box is expertly designed to match UK standard brick dimensions—equivalent to the height of two brick courses and the length of two standard bricks. This thoughtful sizing minimizes or eliminates the need to cut bricks during installation, ensuring easy integration into new or existing brickwork.
Manufactured from durable WoodStone®, a sustainable blend of wood fibre and concrete, the Swift built-in next box offers long-lasting performance and excellent insulation properties. The entrance hole extends 20mm beyond the wall surface, simplifying the rendering process and leaving only a clean, round entrance with a slotted opening visible. This Swift built-in box contains two internal nest pans and features a centrally positioned entrance hole, allowing it to be installed either way up.
Swifts are colonial breeders, so it is highly recommended to install multiple Swift built-in boxes together.
This Swift built-in box contains two internal nest pans and features a centrally positioned entrance hole, allowing it to be installed either way up. The unit is placed on the outer skin of brick or blockwork and protrudes 50mm into the cavity.
The box is suitable for cavity wall installation provided the cavity is at least 100mm wide, which prevents the rear of the box from contacting the inner wall and eliminates the risk of thermal bridging.
For optimal placement:
-
Install in the gable end on the north or east side of the building
-
Position it three brick courses down from the roofline
-
Mount it at least 4 metres above ground level
-
Ensure a clear flight path, free from trees or shrubs
Swifts prefer to nest in colonies. Therefore, it is recommended to install multiple boxes together, maintaining a minimum spacing of 40 centimetres between each one.
This integrated nest box does not require cleaning. Swifts themselves will remove excess nesting material (for example, if a house sparrow has been in the nest box).
