IB GZ 10 Swift built-in nest box (suits UK Brick Sizes)

For Swifts, the nest box should be installed at least five meters high and not facing south. The NK GZ 10 built-in nest box is easy to install, as it mounts on both walls and has a standard UK block width of 440mm. With a 250mm cavity, it is recommended to provide support at the back of the box. The entrance hole is centrally located, so installation can be done in either orientation.

Ideally, the built-in block should be placed into the gable end on the north or east side of the building, about three courses down from the top. This positioning provides an ideal height and ensures minimal human disturbance. Keep the flight path clear by avoiding the growth of trees or shrubs in front of the wall.

Swifts prefer to breed in colonies, so it is recommended to install several blocks together. The blocks should be spaced at least 40 centimeters apart. No nesting material is required.

We recommend installing a minimum of one block per new dwelling. For a development of 30 houses, you should have 30 blocks on the site. Since this block is designed to be placed high in the gable end, it will typically be against a cold space, so additional insulation is not necessary.
