NK AL 04 Open Nest Box

Erithacus rubecula (robin), Phoenicurus ochruros (black redstart), Phoenicurus phoenicurus (common redstart), Muscicapa striata (spotted flycatcher), Motacilla alba alba (white wagtail)
For robins, it is recommended that the nest box be placed at a height of approximately 1 metre, well concealed amongst the foliage. Ideal locations include, for example, a vegetation-covered façade, bushes or trees with dense branches. For collared redstarts, black redstarts and white wagtails, placement on (industrial) buildings is suitable. Preferably choose a quiet, sheltered spot such as under a canopy, a protruding structure or in a corner with little disturbance.
Once the young birds have fledged, the nest box can be cleaned straight away. Alternatively, you can wait until after the first frost. Regular cleaning increases the likelihood of the nest box being reused in the following breeding season.
