Description

This wooden surface-mounted sparrow box is suitable for the temporary mitigation of house sparrow breeding sites. The nest box has the entrance opening on the right side and can be combined with the NK MU 10 (entrance opening on the left) and the NK MU 11 (entrance opening in front).
These three models have their entrance openings on different sides. Because of this, there is no disturbance if the nest boxes are placed a little closer together. Maintain a minimum distance of 25 cm between nest boxes when using this combination.
The nest box is also favored by (cabbage) tits, among others. It is made of FSC®-certified exterior plywood.

  • Preferably place the nest box with several others, maintaining a minimum horizontal and vertical spacing of 50 cm. If combined with the NK MU 10 and NK MU 12, this distance may be reduced to a minimum of 25 cm.
  • The boxes may be placed in all wind directions, as long as the entrance opening does not face southwest and is not exposed to direct sunlight all day. Ideal spots are directly under gutters or overhangs, or at least 3 meters in height. Do not add nesting material.

If desired, the box can be cleaned after the breeding season, preferably during the winter months. This can be accomplished by opening the door on the side of the nest box.
