Description

This 100% WoodStone® nest box with marten protection provides nesting opportunities for starlings and can also be used by various other small species. An extra block is placed on the inside beneath the entrance opening, allowing young starlings to sit on it to defecate outside, helping to keep the nest box clean. WoodStone® is a mix of 100% FSC®-certified wood fibres and concrete. This robust material is environmentally sustainable and will last for decades.

  • Hang the nest box using the provided screw or nail.
  • Ensure the entrance opening is not facing southwest to avoid rain exposure.
  • Make sure the nest box is not exposed to direct sunlight all day.
  • Do not add nesting material.
  • Place the nest box at least 2 feet high in a tree, on a fence, or on a facade.
  • The nest box can also be attached to a tree without nails or screws using Velcro. To do this, rotate the hanging bracket at the back 180 degrees. Velcro is available for optional ordering.

The nest box can be cleaned by opening the front. This should be done immediately after the young birds have fledged or during the winter months following a few days of frost.
