Description
This bat box is primarily used in trees but can also be placed in attics. The model was developed and improved in collaboration with experts. The box is particularly suitable for the ruddy bat and the big-eared bat, although other bat species can also use it, depending on the local species and where the bat box is hung. It is suitable as a summer and/or breeding box and is sometimes used by small maternity groups. In mild winters, the box can also serve as a shelter.
As a summer breeding box and for possible maternity groups, it is suitable for:
- Common Pipistrelle
- Nathusius’ Pipistrelle
- Soprano Pipistrelle
- Brown Long-eared Bat
- Leisler’s Bat
- Natterer’s Bat
- Daubenton’s Bat
- Noctule
In mild winters, it may also be used by:
- Common Pipistrelle
- Brown Long-eared Bat
The box is made of 100% WoodStone® (WoodStone® is a mix of 100% FSC®-certified wood fibres and concrete) and features two entrances with integrated tit barriers, one at the front and one at the bottom. The interior has a concrete structure for bats to hang between, and there is a clear space at the top for several bats to hang out together. The concrete structure is removable, making it ideal for monitoring and cleaning.
