Description

This built-in nest box is suitable as a compensation measure for nesting sites of species such as the black redstart and is ideal for plastered façades. The nest box is suitable for new construction, renovation, and post-insulation projects, and fits perfectly within a 3-layer Waal format brick wall.

Other species such as the white wagtail, grey wagtail, European robin, spotted flycatcher, and house sparrow may also use this nest box.

The nest box is made entirely from FSC®-certified wood concrete.

  • This nest box is installed horizontally into the façade, with the front edge of the entrance aligned flush with the plastered surface. Once the nest box is built in, the raised edge around the entrance can be seamlessly finished with plaster.
  • Optionally, the front area around the entrance can be lightly plastered to match the color of the façade.
  • Where possible, install the built-in boxes high on the wall and beneath the eaves. If that is not feasible, a minimum installation height of 4 meters is recommended.
  • Do not place the boxes directly above doors or windows.
  • North- to east-facing façades are preferred. Other orientations are also acceptable (for example, directly under the roof overhang).
  • Avoid installing the nest boxes in locations with full sun exposure throughout the day, or on southwest-facing walls due to potential rain impact.
  • Do not add any nesting material.

This built-in nest box is non-openable but can be cleaned during the winter months by removing nesting material through the entrance hole. No further maintenance is required.
