Description

This built-in brick is suitable as compensation for summer or breeding boxes for bats and can be used in both renovation and new construction. The slotted front of this built-in brick fits perfectly into a 3-layer waal format. Built-in bricks can be installed singly or with several IB VL 06 bricks connected laterally and can also be connected in the cavity both horizontally and vertically with the IB VL 07. Species such as the Common Dwarf Bat, Small Dwarf Bat, Soprano Pipistrelle, and Particoloured Bat can use this facility. Since the cabinet section is incorporated behind the outer leaf, the bats are better protected from extreme high or low temperatures. The built-in nest box is made of WoodStone® with a waterproof, glued Plywood back wall. WoodStone® is a mix of 100% FSC®-certified wood fibres and concrete. This robust material is environmentally sustainable and will last for decades. This backboard is coated on the inside with spray cork for better grip.

  • Built-in bricks can be installed singly or with several IB VL 06 bricks connected laterally. They can also be connected in the cavity both horizontally and vertically with the IB VL 07, providing the bats with more zones of different temperatures.
  • Built-in bricks should preferably be installed in several locations on the facade. Vary the altitude and wind direction when doing so.
  • Install built-in bricks high up in the facade where possible. If that is not feasible, install them at least 4 meters above ground level.
  • Avoid installing boxes directly above doors or windows.
  • Ensure a clear entry and exit route, and never place bricks in or near artificial light.

Built-in bricks are often difficult to access. However, after some time, it is advisable to check if the box is still clean inside. Contamination from moths and other insects often occurs. A flexible long brush can be used to remove these contaminants.

Note: Always check carefully before cleaning to ensure there are no bats in the box!
