Description
Several species of insects may inhabit this insect hotel. It is especially suited to solitary bees and solitary wasps. The exterior of the insect hotel is made of pinewood; the roof is constructed of exterior FSC®-certified plywood and roofing leather. The interior is made of bamboo, birch logs, and limestone. To make shipping easier, we have not pre-assembled the legs of the hotel, but screws and pre-drilled holes have been provided so that this can be done easily upon installation. The legs are treated with a rubber seal at the bottom to increase longevity.
This insect hotel can be placed in different ways, in the ground or on a green/flat roof.
”
- Place the insect hotel preferably in a sunny area near plants and flowers and, if possible, with the front facing south.
- Prior to installation, attach the legs to the hotel. The positions of the screws are pre-drilled.
- Dig 2 holes about 50 cm deep, then put the hotel in place and fill the holes. In doing so, make sure that the part of the pole with the protective black layer is just above ground level.
- Then the wooden supporting post can be attached to the back of the hotel and positioned in the ground as well. It can be secured onto the back of the hotel with the screws provided. The holes for the screws are pre-drilled.
“
The insect hotel is finished with a water-based clear varnish. Regular painting will increase its longevity. The bamboo tubes should be replaced at least every three years, or sooner if they are damaged or missing. Treating bottom of the posts near ground level with a coating such as rubber seal once every 2 years will also increase their longevity.
