Description

Barn swallows nest in barns, sheds or under canopies. Almost always near horses, pigs, cattle or other livestock. This artificial nest provides nesting opportunities for the barn swallow and is made of WoodStone®. WoodStone® is a mix of 100% FSC®-certified wood fibres and concrete. This robust material is environmentally sustainable and will last for decades.

  • Hang the artificial nest in a barn, under a carport, or beneath a bridge.
  • Place the nest under the ceiling, ensuring there is a small space (at least 4 cm) between the ceiling and the edge of the nest.
  • Barn swallows often breed in groups with several pairs in the same location, but they maintain an appropriate distance from each other. Keep this in mind when installing.
  • The best chance for the artificial nest to be inhabited is in a location with horses or livestock nearby.

The artificial nest can be cleaned once a year at the end of the season, starting in October.
