It can also be used by house sparrows. This is beneficial for the discovery of the nest box by swifts. However, once the swifts decide to take over the nest box from the sparrows, they will promptly evict the sparrows without hesitation.
The nest box is made from FSC®-certified plywood and finished with a grey spray cork coating. Inside the box, the back wall is also finished with spray cork. This allows young birds to grip the back wall and strengthen their wing muscles.
Installation is straightforward using the supplied screw hook and stainless steel screws.
Preferably, install multiple nest boxes together, maintaining a minimum spacing of 50 cm both horizontally and vertically.
It is recommended to place the boxes facing between the east and north directions.
Other orientations are also possible, provided the box is installed under a sufficiently large overhang.
Do not add any nesting material inside the box.
Mounting the box is easy with the supplied installation materials.
First, place the screw hook at the desired location. Then, hang the nest box over the hook and secure it additionally to the wall using the provided wall plug and screw.
The nest box cannot be opened. For a longer lifespan, the box can be repainted over time.
