NK LA 14 nest box open

Pre-order available. Available from mid-June. Request your quote now.

The NK LA 14 is an extra spacious nest box made from 20 mm thick larch wood. This semi-open nest box provides nesting opportunities for e.g. robin, common redstart, black redstart, spotted flycatcher and white wagtail. This depends on where the nest box is installed. Thanks to the use of durable larch wood, this nest box has a significantly longer lifespan than standard pine nest boxes.

The nest box is suitable for installation in trees, on building facades, or on fences, and provides a safe and comfortable nesting site.

Protection against predation

This semi-open nest box is equipped with extra metal bars, making it more difficult for predators such as jackdaws, magpies and jays to access the nest.

The design with an extended roof in combination with the bars also provides additional protection against squirrels and martens. This makes it significantly more difficult for the nest to be raided and increases the chances of successful breeding.

Practical and easy to maintain

The nest box can be easily opened from the front by loosening the screw hook. This allows the entire front panel to be folded forward, making maintenance and inspection easy.

Overview of the mentioned species with their Latin names:
Erithacus rubecula (robin), Phoenicurus ochruros (black redstart), Phoenicurus phoenicurus (common redstart), Muscicapa striata (spotted flycatcher), Motacilla alba alba (white wagtail)

  • Easy to install using the included stainless steel mounting set
  • Hanging kit consists of: 1x screw hook (4.4 x 80), 2x plug (8 x 50), 1x coach screw (5 x 60) and 1x washer (5 mm)
  • For the robin, the nest box should preferably be placed well concealed, for example among ivy or dense vegetation. A height of around 2 meters is ideal.
  • When placed up to about 4 meters high under a roof overhang or shelter, the nest box is suitable for the spotted flycatcher. At these locations there is also a chance of occupancy by species such as white wagtail and black redstart.
  • On industrial sites or on taller buildings, the nest box can be used by black redstart and white wagtail.
  • Avoid direct sunlight and preferably do not place on a south- or west-facing wall to prevent rain exposure
  • Do not add nesting material

Nest boxes are not only used for breeding, but also as sleeping sites. After the first brood has fledged, the old nest can be removed. Please note that a second brood may sometimes follow.

Cleaning can also be done after the first frost period. Regular maintenance contributes to a healthy and safe nesting environment.
