Description

This barn owl box is made of exterior plywood and is equipped with ventilation. The box features a separate nesting area and a lid for easy inspection and maintenance. Please note that this nest box is not suitable for placement outside in wind and weather.

  • The barn owl nest box is typically placed in a barn or attic, often in larger buildings such as farms, large barns, mills, and churches.
  • The nest box can be placed freely on a beam or against the wall.
  • Another option is to place the barn owl box directly behind the opening where the barn owl enters. The entrance opening can then be extended as needed, from the building’s opening to the nest box’s opening.
  • Barn owls prefer a dark, quiet place.
  • A layer of dry small wood chips can be added to the nest box as nesting material if necessary.

The box can be cleaned after the breeding season, preferably during the winter months. Be mindful of disturbance, as barn owls use the nest box year-round. Therefore, keep the cleaning process as brief as possible.
