Description
This bat box consists of four compartments with angled slats to create different widths. The box is used on facades for the temporary mitigation of maternity colonies.
Several species of bats can use this bat box, depending on the local species and where the box is hung. The box is especially suitable as a maternity bat box but can also be used as a summer and/or breeding box. In mild winters, it can also serve as a shelter.
As a maternity/summer or breeding box, it is suitable for:
- Whiskered Bat
- Common Pipistrelle
- Soprano Pipistrelle
- Serotine (experimental)
- Pond Bat (experimental)
- Nathusius’ Pipistrelle
- Particoloured Bat
In mild winters, it may also be used by:
- Common Pipistrelle
The box is finished in white, which helps prevent the temperature inside from heating up too quickly when placed in sunny, warm locations. The four compartments create different microclimates within the box.
This box is made of waterproof bonded exterior plywood. The inside of the back wall and one side of the partition are finished with spray cork for good grip. The box comes with dowels and screws for mounting.
