Description
This pole mounted box is very suitable for mitigating the loss of summer roosting habitat for a number of species of bats. The pole-mounted bat box can be placed anywhere, but ideally it should be near a green space with shrubs and trees or near a forest edge. It is also possible to place the pole-mounted box in an open area in a park, garden, or forest. In this case, place the box as close to the edge of a clearing as possible. The pole mounted box consists of a 6-meter FSC®-certified Douglas fir pole and a (rocket) bat box. In addition, four bags of quick setting concrete are also provided to ensure stable installation. The chambers on three sides have 19-mm spacing finished with spray cork, and are jointly accessible through holes in the partitions. The bats can crawl into the box through the open slats at the bottom. A ventilation slit is placed on two sides. Once inside the box, the bats can reach all parts of the box through various openings in the slats. There are several species of bats that may inhabit this box, depending on which species can be found in the area. The pole mounted box is suitable as a summer roost. During mild winters, the box can also serve as shelter. xAs a summer and mating roost for:
