Description

This bat stone is specially designed to provide a place for bats in winter roosts to hide. The stone features crevices, chambers, and holes, allowing bats to choose their own spot where they feel most comfortable or where they can cluster together as a group.
This bat stone is suitable for a variety of locations, uses, and species groups. It can be applied in underground or ground-covered winter accommodations for target species such as:

  • Daubenton’s Bat
  • Whiskered Bat</li
  • Natterer’s Bat
  • Brown Long-eared Bat
  • Pond Bat
  • Barbastelle Bat
  • Vale Bat
  • Bechstein’s Bat

Application to above-ground winter accommodations is also possible, such as in rooms in forts, church towers, or church attics. The target species in these cases include:

  • Common Pipistrelle
  • Nathusius’ Pipistrelle
  • Serotine
  • Brown Long-eared Bat
  • Grey Big-eared Bat
  • Soprano Pipistrelle

These sites are suitable for overwintering during severe frosts. Additionally, these bat stones can serve as refuges for bats under bridges and in traffic-clearing sections of overpasses.

  • These bat bricks are hung at varied heights when installed in bunkers and basements.
  • When installed in attics and stables, boxes should be placed as high as possible against the wall or posts. Use the provided angle brackets along with dowels and screws.
  • For high spaces in stables or attics, maintain a minimum height of 3 meters.
  • The bricks can be secured to the wall or ceiling using the two included angle irons, screws, and plugs.
  • At a certain height, the bricks can be stacked loosely.
  • Do not place bricks above windows and doors.
  • The bricks should not be installed on illuminated facades or in areas with artificial light.
  • It is preferred to have multiple bat bricks placed near each other.

In buildings and bat cellars, this bat stone typically does not require cleaning. However, installation under bridges necessitates at least annual maintenance. If you do clean the bat stone, ensure it is not occupied by bats. A special long-handled brush can be used to remove cobwebs and other debris.
