This stone/tree marten box was developed in collaboration with the Mammalian Society. The box provides a place for martens to hide or build a nest, featuring a special section for maternity to accommodate young. It is made of exterior plywood, and the roof is covered with roofing membrane.

- This box can be placed in a tree or on the ground. Choose a quiet location for installation.
- Place the box for the pine marten at least 2.5 meters high on a tree or facade.
- Boxes can also be installed in attics where martens are desired.
- When placing the box on the ground, find a sheltered spot under bushes. To prevent the bottom from rotting, it’s wise to elevate the box slightly using bricks or similar materials.
- Optionally, you can create one or two entrances. When installed on a tree or facade, a taller side entrance is recommended. When installed on the ground, the front entrance is preferred.
If the box is occupied, maintenance is not possible due to the risk of disruption. If the box is not occupied, it can be cleaned once a year. The box is finished with a water-based lacquer, and for added durability, it can be repainted after a few years.
