IB GZ 16 Swift built-in nest box

This swift built-in nest box is suitable as a compensation measure for swift nesting sites in building facades.
The built-in box can be perfectly applied in rendered (plastered) facades.
Moreover, it is suitable for use in new construction projects, renovations, or post-insulation upgrades.

The height of this built-in box fits perfectly within three courses of Waal format bricks, and the box can be installed with the entrance hole either facing left or right.

House sparrows also readily use this built-in nest box.
This is beneficial for the initial discovery of the box by swifts.
Once the swifts decide to take over the nest box, they will evict the sparrows without hesitation.
Occasionally, great tits and blue tits may also use the nest box.

This built-in nest box is made entirely from FSC®-certified wood concrete.

This built-in nest box is installed horizontally into the facade, with the front of the entrance hole flush with the finished render.
After installation, the raised edge around the entrance hole can be seamlessly finished with render.
Optionally, the front of the entrance hole can be lightly rendered to match the color of the facade.
It is recommended to install multiple built-in nest boxes together, maintaining a minimum spacing of 50 cm both horizontally and vertically.
Where possible, place the built-in boxes high up under the eaves.
If that is not possible, install the boxes at least 4 meters above ground level.
Avoid placing boxes directly above doors or windows.
North- to east-facing facades are preferred.
Other orientations are possible as well, such as directly under a roof overhang.
Do not install nest boxes on facades that are exposed to full sun all day or on southwest-facing walls due to the risk of rain ingress.
Do not add any nesting material.

This integrated nest box does not require cleaning. Swifts themselves will remove excess nesting material (for example, if a house sparrow has been in the nest box).
