This insect block provides nesting opportunities for several species of solitary bees. Cuckoo bees may also inhabit the brick. Some solitary bee species resemble wasps. Yet they are not like wasps and will not sting or be a nuisance. Although the bees are solitary, they may inhabit the bricks in a colony-like manner. This insect brick is made entirely of durable and long-lasting FSC® WoodStone®- a mixture of 100% FSC®-certified wood fibres and cement – and fitted with hollow bamboo tubes of various diameters.

- Install the brick so that the front flush is with the facade.
- When installing multiple bricks in one location, it is possible to place them at varying heights. Ideally, the boxes should be installed 2 to 3 meters from the ground.
- A location in which the bricks are near bee-friendly plants is preferable.
- Multiple bricks may be installed together.
- It is recommended to install the bricks in a warm, sunny location, sheltered from wind and rain. Additionally, ensure that nothing obstructs the nesting cavities. Do not install in facades exposed to strong winds or heavy rain.
Replace the bamboo tubes at least every three years, but preferably sooner. The tubes can also be cleaned or the insect brick can be replaced with a new one. When cleaning the bamboo tubes, use drill diameters between 2 and 10 mm. Commonly used diameters are 4, 6 and 8 mm. Please contact Vivara Pro if you would like us to provide maintenance service.
