IB VL 07 Bat built-in box

Description

We recommend connecting several of the bat boxes together so the bats have more space to move around. In order to connect the boxes, the small WoodStone® blocks on the sides will need to be removed. The boxes can be connected from the left, right, or top. This creates a larger internal chamber for the bats. Species such as the Common Dwarf Bat, Small Dwarf Bat, Soprano Pipistrelle and Parti-coloured Bat may use this box.

This integrated WoodStone® bat box can be installed in any facade, regardless of wind direction. Our WoodStone® is a mix of 100% FSC®-certified wood fibres and concrete. This robust material is environmentally sustainable and will last for decades.
Install the box as high as possible in the facade, at least 3 meters above the ground.
Keep the front of the wall free of trees and shrubs, and do not install solar shades, blinds, etc. above the box.
Do not place the integrated box over a door, window or balcony because of bat droppings.
Artificial light is disturbing to most bat species. Do not illuminate the box – or the flight path – or place the box near artificial light sources.
When multiple integrated boxes are used together (for example, in combination with the IB VL 06 or IB VL 08), they serve as sites for hibernation, roosting, raising young, and colony formation.
There are a number of ways to connect the boxes; the user determines how this will be done. The boxes can be connected using coupling plates, screws, or cavity anchors. Sometimes they are also glued. Mounting hardware is not included.

There is no maintenance required for this integrated box as it is incorporated into the cavity wall.
